The carefree, cinematic romances of the 1950s, 60s and 70s, set towards the sunshine and glamour of the Côte d’ Azur, have been the stuff my adolescent desires have been fabricated from.  Movies like Alfred Hitchcock’s “To Catch a Thief” distilled and stuck in my thoughts the magnificence and the spirit of the occasions. As we speak, as I write this assessment of Atelier des Ors’ three new fragrances in The Riviera Assortment, (Atelier des Ors Riviera Drive, Pomelo Riviera and Riviera Lazuli), I discover myself re-living my youthful fantasies of the French Riviera.

Brilliant blues and chartreuse hues are intensified within the coronary heart by deeper resinous greens of cedar leaf and absinthe.  The vivid, adventurous spirit and aromatic vistas are grounded within the luminescent heat of patchouli, Cashmeran and musk.

I drive for the sheer pleasure of driving, however quickly uncover that my Riviera Drive is main me to a quiet and charming vacation spot. I uncover an historic villa perched on a steep hillside, overlooking the ocean.  The previous home is surrounded by a walled backyard crammed with citrus, white flowers, roses and palms.  Atelier des Ors Pomelo Riviera greets me with the glowing zest of my favourite citrus fruit, the pomelo, seasoned with a zephyr of salt air. A radiant sharpness of shiny citrus relaxes into the seductively hypnotic and silky aromas of jasmine and orange blossoms.

The enchanting backyard retreat that’s Atelier des Ors Pomelo Riviera tempts me to an extended afternoon nap within the shade of tropical palms.  I depart the backyard refreshed and proceed my street journey to the shore.

After discovering the liberty of winding roads and the relief of historic gardens, Atelier des Ors Riviera Lazuli brings me to sea stage and to the scents of sand, driftwood and sunshine.  Sea breezes refresh with notes of lemon and cypress.  From my seaside towel on the strand I gaze out on the sailboats and yachts bobbing, shiny and white, within the blue Mediterranean afternoon.  Clary sage, gaiac wooden and immortelle create the candy, softly spiced impact of heat sand on tanned pores and skin. I shut my eyes, having fun with the solar, sea breeze and the resinous soothing results of balsam and incense.

Atelier des Ors Riviera Lazuli leaves me with photos and recollections of an ideal day on the French Riviera, reliving youthful desires and revisiting recollections and fantasies of days passed by.
