RABBIT NINJA
A younger bunny thinks life could be
higher as a ninja.
Actual life is so uninteresting. One has to get
up, rush by breakfast, get to high school on time, and endure lengthy days inside.
Recess affords reduction, however solely as a result of that’s when the little bunny can play at
ninjas with pals. It’s not all dangerous: Strolling residence from college with dad is
good, and “radish nights” make consuming every part on the plate a pleasure. However
bedtime? Ninjas don’t mess with bedtime—there are all the time “enemies to defeat.”
Although the trim measurement is that of a standard image e-book, Williams’
watercolors recall Beatrix Potter’s with their lovingly anthropomorphic
particulars. Double-page spreads juxtapose the younger narrator’s actual life towards
the far superior lifetime of a ninja rabbit, such kid-friendly particulars as a Carrot
Clusters cereal field and a rumpled tablecloth contrasting amusingly with the
imaginative and prescient of the serene ninja munching noodles with disciplined focus, a
katana within the foreground. One unfold of the bunny on the ground intently studying
ninja reference materials each completely captures the kid autodidact at work
and transmits some ninja factoids. However though life as a ninja is
objectively higher than actual life, actual life does provide compensations, like
these walks residence with dad and, when a dream of preventing a katana-wielding
red-eyed rabbit villain will get a bit too intense, a mom’s comforting
presence.
