Thus far, 2019 is smelling just like the yr of the buoyant, contemporary floral. My current favorites from Esxence 2019 embody a number of breathtaking, evanescent beauties.  However even whereas floating on (and carried away with) the present ethereal development, I discover that I sometimes crave a fragrance that is a bit more corporeal, targeted and virtually all the way down to earth.

Mancera Sand Aoud was created in 2011 by Pierre Montale for Mancera Paris, the home that he based in 2008 and that’s now underneath the creative course of his daughter Amélie.  Sand Aoud options a few of my favourite perfume notes, unapologetically distinct and literal, every introduced in vivid distinction and sharp reduction with solely an occasional barely blurred edge or fuzzy aura.

I used to be initially drawn to Mancera Sand Aoud by the title alone, absolutely anticipating a desert romance, full with djinns, dry desiccated air, incense curling from magical censors and a surfeit of mysterious oudi-ness. I used to be stunned, however not dissatisfied, to find Sand Aoud to be a very totally different tackle the desert panorama.  Earthy, intense and animalic, Mancera Sand Aoud retains all the romance and magic that I anticipated, however the dry, dusty air and the oud are virtually misplaced to an addictive environment of comforting heat and sweetness.

The magic that’s Mancera Sand Aoud instantly satisfies one in every of my primal olfactory cravings – an obsessive want for the scent of black currant. The djinn residing within the smooth Mancera fragrance bottle grants my want and satisfies my ardour with a palpable, intense opening of deep and darkly candy black currant liqueur, spiced with nutmeg, cardamom and black pepper. In about fifteen minutes the recent, boozy, ever so barely medicinal fruit begins to radiate a refined aura of woody incense that resolves right into a coronary heart of dried rose petals and saffron powder, paying homage to the aroma and style of a Persian Advieh or a Moroccan Ras el Hanout spice mix.

Mancera Sand Aoud is an exceptionally long-lived perfume.  The romantic olfactory story that’s Sand Aoud, whereas not lasting for 1001 nights, stays on my pores and skin for at the least 24 hours and for numerous days on clothes. Mancera Sand Aoud finishes with an extended and satisfying expertise of patchouli, darkish vanilla and only a trace of the basic oud that Pierre Montale and Mancera Paris accomplish that properly.

Notes: Sizzling spices, black currant liqueur, rose petals, saffron powder, incense, patchouli, oud and vanilla.

Disclaimer:  I wish to thank Europerfumes and Mancera for my treasured bottle of Sand Aoud.  My opinions are my very own.
