In it Bowie performs the otherworldly, tragic hero Thomas Jerome Newton — a humanoid alien who has come to Earth to retrieve water for his drought-stricken house planet.

Kurtzman is growing the brand new sequence with fellow Star Trek: Discovery author Jenny Lumet. The duo will co-write the episodes — which will likely be a continuation of the story not a reboot — with Kurtzman directing, in line with Deadline on Thursday.

“Walter Tevis’ visionary novel gave us a Tech God Willy Wonka from one other planet, delivered to life by David Bowie’s legendary efficiency, that foretold Steve Jobs’ and Elon Musk’s affect on our world,” each Kurtzman and Lumet mentioned in a joint assertion.

“The sequence will think about the subsequent step in our evolution, seen via the eyes of an alien who should be taught what it means to develop into human, at the same time as he fights for the survival of his species.”

There is not any phrase but on the brand new sequence’ launch date or solid.
